Dear 3/4 Lacrosse Parents:

Welcome to the 2010 Bainbridge Boys Lacrosse program! We’re ready to launch this year’s practices and prepare for another exciting season.

Practice: Held Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00 – 5:00 pm starting Wednesday, March 3rd at Wilkes Elementary.

Gear: Players need a helmet, stick, pads, athletic cup, cleats and mouth guard. Soccer cleats are fine, but baseball cleats are not permitted. Remember to mark your name in your son’s gear.

Rental equipment: New players in grades 3 – 6 will receive priority for rental equipment. Ask Coach Shannon about rentals.

Games: Intra squad games are held on Sundays at Wilkes. In addition, several Saturday Jamborees will occur on and off the Island. More details later.

Coaches: Coach Shannon Evans will direct the program and announce additional coaches in March. Bainbridge High School Varsity Lacrosse players serve as coaches with Coach Shannon’s guidance.

• To have fun! Players will develop basic skills in catching, throwing and retrieving ground balls. Coaches will strive to help players develop a rudimentary understanding of the game and how to work together as a team. It is most important that these young players have fun as they are exposed to the sport.
• Players test their skills during weekly intra-squad games and some off Island tournament play.

• Coach Jack Visco serves as the Program Director for all Bainbridge Island Lacrosse programs, and coaches the varsity team at Bainbridge High School. He will select coaches for each grade level and will announce specific assignments by February, 2010. For the Grade 3-4 program several varsity players will be selected to lead practices. A parent volunteer will support the teams with communication to parents.

• Grades 3-4 start practice March 9
• Intra-squad games start March 14. They are held on Sundays at 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm
• Practices is held Tuesday/Thursday, 4:00 -6:00 pm, Wilkes Field

• Lacrosse stick, helmet, chest protector, elbow pads and gloves are required.
• Mouth guard, athletic cup and cleats are required (baseball cleats are not permitted)

• BILAX does offer a limited supply of rental equipment; however we cannot guarantee to have full protective gear to fit all participants. Some helmets, chest protectors and pads are typically available. A $150 refundable deposit is required. Checks are cashed if equipment is NOT returned.
• Players need to purchase their own stick.

• Sport Haus, Poulsbo (Note: store will carry a large selection by early December)

• 2010 Registration Fee: $175*
• *Includes US Lacrosse Insurance fee of $25, but does not include cost of gear.
