Hi
Everyone,
I've included every email address that you all input at registration
- please let me know if there are any corrections or more addresses
you would like added to the list. If your email address changes,
please let me know but also go to the lacrosse site and change
it so that you will continue to receive emails from the club.
Practice on No School Days: There WILL be practice
on Tuesday (tomorrow) from 3:30 - 5:30. Assume there is practice
unless you hear from us because lacrosse is a bit like the mail
service - rain, snow, sleet or hail.....
Practice: Please make sure your player has a
cup and a mouthguard at practice. If your son is one of the kids
who doesn't like to wear a cup, you should let him know that Shannon
has been known to do cup checks. Kids without mouthguards and
cups can't play (which is better than playing and becoming an
instant soprano). They get thirsty out there so make sure they
have a water bottle with their name clearly marked on it. NO BASEBALL
CLEATS (with the toe clip) will be allowed at lacrosse. Also,
NO LONG POLES at practice until notified. The coaches will be
making the decision and inviting the players that get to use long
poles. If your child has a penny from one of the camps or another
sport, please have them bring it to practice. Please pick up your
child promptly at 5:30.
**If your 5/6 player is going to miss practice, email Coach Shannon
in advance at pshannon.evans@gmail.com and copy me on the email
chris@bigwaverecruiting.com .**
Concussion Form:
The attached form must be signed and turned in. Some parents completed
the form as a part of registration but the Club has been notified
that the actual signed form is required. Please bring to practice
and give to Shannon or myself. All forms must be turned in by
the time we hand out uniforms.
Uniforms: We will be handing out uniforms at
a future date TBD. This requires a $50 deposit. You will need
to provide shorts for your child. These can be any royal or navy
blue shorts (without pockets).
Game Day: When the game schedule comes out, I
will be looking for parents to volunteer for things like bringing
oranges, keeping score, setup/takedown, and other ways to get
involved.
Spaghetti Dinner: Please try and attend the spaghetti
dinner this Saturday. It is a great kick-off event for the players
and their families (siblings are invited of course). The high
school players will be there to interact with the boys and there
will be some professional players from the Stealth team attending.
It is a ton of fun for the parents and there are some great auction
items this year in all price ranges. If you are going, please
register online ASAP so we can get a handle on the number we should
expect. You register at www.bainbridgelax.com and click on the
registration
link. This is a casual fun event and a fundraiser for the club.
(Not to mention a good excuse to not cook dinner on a Saturday
night!)
Concerns: From time to time, issues or questions
come up. Please direct any questions to me unless they are specific
to players in which case you should contact the coach directly.
I am at school on Thursday's picking up Forrest (and eventually
on Tuesdays) or you can contact me by phone or email (below).
I think this is everything for now! Please let me know if I've
left anything out or you have any questions. I'm looking forward
to seeing you all on the field and at the dinner!

January

Dear
7/8 Lacrosse Parents:
Welcome
to the 2010 Boys Lacrosse program! We’re ready to launch
this year’s practices and prepare for another exciting season.
As the 7/8 lacrosse representative, my job will be to help your
family stay connected to the program and respond to any questions
or concerns that might come up. Below, please find the details
for this season.
Practice:
Held Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 3:30 – 5:30 pm starting
Friday,
January 15.
Practice
Field: During January and February the 7/8 players will
practice on the turf field at Bainbridge High School. In March,
practice will begin at the new turf fields at Battle Point Park.
Note: There are limited restroom facilities at BHS for changing,
so players might want to change at Woodward. There will be no
access to the high school locker room.
Gear/storage:
Players must provide their own gear (helmet, stick, pads, athletic
cup and mouth guard). New players in grades 3 – 6 will
receive priority for rental equipment. Players can store
their gear in the lacrosse shed at Woodward each morning that
practice is scheduled. Ms. Kornfeld, a teacher at Woodward, will
make sure the shed is available each morning, locked during the
day and then open again at the end of the school day. The shed
is located just inside the fence to the Woodward field.
Physicals/Code
of Conduct: A physical is required, but is good for two
years. If your player completed a physical for another sport a
separate physical is NOT needed. Forms are available on the Woodward
website. Please submit completed forms to Ms. Mar at Woodward
by February 1.
Games:
Games will start in early March. Schedules are not available at
this time; however, teams will typically play 5 home games and
5 away games (Seattle/Tacoma area).
Coaches:
Coach Jack Visco, head coach Bainbridge High School, will direct
the program and announce additional coaches in February.
Certainly,
we’ll have more information as we get closer to the start
of the season. I’ll also use the www.bainbridgelax.com website
to keep everyone informed. Let me know how I can help your family
get ready for the season
Regards,
